Orchid House wins; stands first in GIIS Surat Sports Day

The spirit of sportsmanship teaches that there is only winning in sports because the one who plays  never loses he only learns how to do better. The Global Indian International School (GIIS) Surat organised the Annual Sports Day in the school ground to instill the spirit of sportsmanship in the students. The event began with a welcome speech by the school principal Dr. N.K.P. Ashok Raj and the Chief Guest Dr. Yogesh Chandrakant Rotliwala, Principal of Pacific School of Engineering, Palsana.

Soon after a well co-ordinated march-past was exhibited by the students and the oath of the ceremony was taken. The sound of the drums and energetic vibes on the ground caught the attention of the participants, parents and the spectators. The sports day was a stiff competition between the four Houses - Orchid, Chrysanthemum, Hibiscus and Sunflower. Sporting games like lemon & spoon and collecting the balls were organized for the tiny pre-primary students. While the older lot of students of classes 1 to 10 got an opportunity to participate in races like 100 and 200 mts. running races, 4X100 mts relay race and the sack race.

The Orchid House bagged the maximum prizes in all categories and won first place.

The students seated in the audience boosted their fellow-mates’ spirit by cheering them up and giving them resounding applause! Some sports enthusiastic parents also participated in races like 40 mts. running race for the mothers and 50 mts. running race for the fathers.

To add to the excitement, the School Choir sang a melodious song while the some girl students presented a dance on a foot-tapping number.
